SAFETY FIRST

Riding motorcycles is inherently dangerous. We're more exposed. We don't have a metal cage protecting us like car drivers do. As motorcycle riders, we need to protect ourselves. It's not a matter of IF we crash, it's a matter of WHEN.

There are multiple ways we can protect ourselves. This article will discuss the basics of protective gear and riding techniques.

Motorcycle Gear

We're well aware about the importance of helmets. They protect our head from impacts in the event of a crash. However, while head injuries are the most lethal forms of injuries, it's not the most common injury from a motorcycle accident. The most common innjuries from a motorcycle accident involve our hands and feet. Our hands tend to be the first point of contact. Our feet tend to get twisted or sustain the weight of the motorcycle.

Wearing gloves and boots are necessary if you wish to protect yourself.
